Birthday week over for another year
Well, that surely makes sure this birthday week won’t be forgotten in a hurry!
We had a lovely day on Tuesday celebrating the daughters 21st birthday in quiet family style – even if “The Hulk” was as disappointing as we had expected, but it was fun! And we were getting all geared up ready for the festivity that we were going to enjoy on Saturday with the daughters friends.

But, on Thursday the car decided to go ‘klonk’, so on Friday she was taken to the mechanics.
OUCH! Wimper! The car's rocker had sheered and torn out the bolts on the way through ... it requires the engine to be stripped down and rebuilt including the bolt holes being remade *sigh* Just when I was thinking I was going to get a reasonable tax return to do something 'nice' with! But on the other hand, at least the Good Gods are still making sure that I have what is necessary (but then it has always been what is necessary, not necessarily what I want *wry grin*)

Fortunately our birthday was not totally spoilt as I finally got my wedding band resized. I finally feel that my hand belongs to me again because my ring is back where it belongs. In a funny way it is a birthday gift to both of us, but it is a bit of an odd thought all the same at how much better my hand feels with that particular ring back on my finger.
We had planned on going out to dinner, just the two of us. But the situation had changed a little, bother it, we stayed in instead and watched “Galaxy Quest” whilst consuming chicken and chips and just generally veging out. I think we might go out in a couple of weeks’ time instead. I've been looking forward to 'going to dinner' with my spouse and I do not intend to be depraved of it!

The daughter's party was quiet, but enjoyable. We had plenty of food and bits and bobs that were polished off and most got gently mellow on the company and food. But why is it that the lovely crunchy tasty vegetables (carrots, capsicum, celery, snow peas, cauliflower, broccoli etc) that one provides to dip into the guacamole, salsa and tzatziki dips, always get left over? Not that the crudities went to waste, they were polished off on Sunday by steaming them and having them with pie and chips for tea

I felt a bit fragile first thing on Sunday morning, but then when you get woken at 5:30am by kookaburras having hysterics outside the bedroom window, having only been in bed for four hours or so, I think one is entitled to feel fragile! *chuckle*
I did get up, had a cup of tea and went back to bed to the magpies carolling the kookaburras away from the favoured territory post just across the road. Rackety creatures!
So we took the day gently. Nothing too extreme in activity or thought, sitting and watching the ABC on a Sunday night, sorting my fleece and spinning was a real treat and seemed to round out the week nicely.

Now I have to get back to the real world and start writing job applications again – just as soon as I can get down to the shops and buy a new printer cartridge … very hard to print letters when there is no ink in the printer!
