One pin or two?
Last Tuesday I spent my ‘winnings’ from the other weekend on a kilo each of two fleeces; a deep dark brown/black Merino (almost Vegemite colour), and a grey Corriedale. What I didn’t realise until I got it home was that the grey fleece has a distinct graduation to its colour. It is light silver grey at one end, and a distinct steel grey, which has presented a bit of a conundrum. Do I spin all the silver and all the steel so that it is plied as either a silver-grey or a steel-grey thread, or do I ply it a single thread of silver with a single of steel? Either way will look gorgeous, the difficulty is deciding which would be most effective in the afghan.

I am So Sad, though. I was so pleased with the fleeces and was so delighted at their beauty that I just had to call people up to tell them how beautiful they were … I’m surprised that I didn’t bust from the pleasure I was getting from handling them! But I also had another treat, in that I have introduced a friend to the delights of spinning too. I took her with me on Tuesday (that will teach me to blab about a great little shop with lots of lovely wool in it!) and while I was picking out my fleece, she was busy getting seduced by the idea of spinning and the possibilities of sensuous delight in creating her own yarn. So not only was I getting my jollies by choosing and handling some lovely fleeces, I have also been teaching someone else how to spin too – probably be helping her choose a wheel shortly, as I also took my newly ‘spun-up’ mate to the Hand-spinners Guild yesterday where we both joined up and, much to my delight, were permitted to borrow from the library! Oh what delight to gain access to another collection of books on a whole new range of topics! Quite delights the heart *giant delighted grin*

Now I have to decide how many needles I will be working with, after enjoying myself creating the yarn!
