Breeds of Livestock - Sheep Breeds

Look what I found! Mostly by falling over it ... but how wonderful! I've spent the last half hour trawling through this site thinking about all the sheep that are raised in Australia and how few varieties there really are by comparison to the world wide selection.
I can see why selection for a single colour for reasons of economics is a sound financial decision, but from a historical and creative point of view I have to admit that not being able to get hold of some of these more 'exotic' wool types and natural colours leaves me feeling a tad sad.

I remember (as if centuries ago) how I heard that South Australia had a flock of golden-fleeced sheep ... Now I think that had more to do with the prices of wool that was being paid at the time. So much for my dreams of spinning a 'golden fleece' *g*
