Selecting colours
Well, the next stage of our adventure has happened this week. We have now formally chosen the colours of our house-to-be. And much to my own amusement I think my kitchen is going to be green and white … again!
The first kitchen I had that was truly my own was green and bright sunshine yellow, which was nice and cheerful as it was a large, but dark room and the yellow really gave it a lift. My next kitchen was much whiter as it was smaller and lots darker (until we put in the skylight) and lots of white made if feel a bit bigger. But the theme of the kitchen was a soft green, despite the emphasis that I have in most of my kitchen equipment on that lovely clear azure blue of the summer sky.
So here I am, considering the colours that will define my living space in twelve months time and in order to give my kitchen that finishing touch I chose a particular shade of laminate for the kitchen bench, and of course I then had to choose a little something to finish the splashback behind the cooking hob.
Why am I not really surprised with myself when, contemplating my choice later, I realise that I am going to end up with a green and white kitchen again?
The last house we lived in was supposed to be blue and cream. Much to my continuing amusement we did … the featured paint was entitled “Delorean Blue”. Trouble was that if you looked at it, it was sort of green too! *grins*
Guess I’m going to have to choose the right sort of blue/green so that it will reflect both sides of the family palette!
