Bit Player
Did you ever have a feeling that you were a bit player in life?
I had the strangest encounter this afternoon while at the shops. One of my daughter's friends wandered up behind me and said 'Hello', which was pleasant in and of itself. What was odd, was that she said she was looking for some bookshelves but having difficulty finding any (not an unusual plaint of those of us who have a book collecting habbit).

I commented that I had spotted some in one local shop for not very much, but I knew another shop sold some nicer ones but she would have to go to the other side of the city for them. And with that, she siad "Good bye", wandered off.
Almost as if I were one of those characters in the book of her life that is only there to provide, in passing, THE clue that will solve the whole mystery.

A very odd sensation! But one that has tickled my funny bone and makes me wonder just how many times in my life has somebody else done that for me (or I have done it for someone else, only been less aware of it). It added a certain piquancy and sense of adventure to my day, I must admit.
