This is one of those things that is worrying for a young librarian with no established procedures to follow except common sense and a vague clue as to what might be needed later.
It is also an argument as to the need to establish procedures and for the development of a records management manual just so that everything is above board.
Though surely there might be a situation where the RM manual is followed and then the lawyers squeak because they had not warned the records manager? What to do then? Would the company be therefore liable?
A thought to ponder further ...
