On the Front Lines
Think about the difference between wealth and greed. Is it enough to have enough? Why is it important for the culture in which I live to 'have more' constantly? And what is the difference between enough in different cultures - not the monetary accounting aspects, it's something that has to do with the way in which life is considered.
I've just read Why the rest hates the west by Meic Pearse (InterVarsity Press, 2004) and it was evident there too. The awareness that the culture in which I live does not have the same view of what is necessity to that in many other cultures. It's not even a country/national thing either, because there are people who live in Australia who also do not regard the need to 'earn more' as being of great import, just 'earn enough' for what is wanted.
This is a thought that is still being thought ...
