Manipulating time

Following from yesterday's thought, I'm having fun trawling Trove and Flickr for images to use as 'journal pages'.I'm thinking of using them mostly as backgrounds and for my own indulgence. I don't know yet if I will share them: I may not but then again I may.

It is so easy to forget how much fun it is to print things out after distorting the original with a graphics program and pile them up to await further manipulation. It's probably a reflection on myself that having spent the day doodling around visiting friends and buying wine from a favourite local vinyard, I've spent the evening (so far) working my way through my own image collection as well as Creative Commons images from the above mentioned resources and playing with GIMP and my graphics tablet making them look seriously weird.

I now have a selection of prints, scanned magazine bits and other paraphinalia together with some paints, crayons, pastels and pencils (and some glue - mustn't forget the glue!) ready for tomorrow. And the best bit about using the computer is that if I decide I don't like what I've just done, I can just print out the starting images and manipulate them all over again. What fun!
