Life imitating art?
I don’t know. Is it me? Or are the current developments around the world in the three “Big A’s” (America, Angle-land (England) and Australia) starting to resemble the life-imitating-art concept?
Since the beginning of this year when the Babylon 5 first two seasons were released and since our society was geared up to “go to war”, I have been having the distinct impression that we were watching a live-action version of the “Shadow War” as seen from Earth, rather than Babylon 5.
This was enhanced even more today whilst watching the news and hearing the the English Defence Minister, the eponymously named Geoffrey Hoon, answer questions about the validity of the intelligence documents used as a basis to send our armed forces into Iraq.
He sounded just like the Night Watch man, Mr Welles, in the last second season episode “The Fall of Night”!
Coupled with the article that I found through The Writing Life that talks about the images various fascist states have had in common over the years I think that I am starting to get bothered by some of the ideas that are starting to float together in my over heated brain.
I would really like to not be thinking what I am starting to think, because I don’t want my world to retreat to that sort of social freezing unit.
