Quotation of the day: (from Verba Volant)
Author - Michel de Montaigne
French - chacun appelle barbarie ce qui n'est pas de son usage
English - any one of us would term barbaric what is not habitual to us

I think that goes directly to the heart of why I feel that a cassarole (that is not left-overs) for breakfast just sounds so wrong.

Left-overs for breakfast under certain circumstances, however, can make the night before a truely memorable experience.
Like cold pizza and hot coffee grabbed as one tears through the house trying to catch the bus to work after the night before, that had consisted of hot pizza, cold beer and lots of silly movies (and a headache that seems to want to stay for more party). Oh the delights of being a young student!

Or the cold perculated coffee in the pot, nuked in the microwave as one totters around the kitchen at some ungodly hour trying to work out why the baby is crying and the dog is barking. The joys of being a young parent!

Now that I am ancient in days and possibly experience (so I exaggerate somewhat) I have decided that my favourite left-overs for breakfast is one that used to be a supper dish - bubble 'n' squeak, consisting of left-over mashed potato, chopped onions, boiled cabbage and either cold meat or bacon, drenched in either tomato sauce or served with a home brewed pickled onion.

Actually that sounds pretty barbaric compared to what I tend to eat for breakfast these days! *g*
Nothing like a generous serve of bland porridge (with honey, of course) to start the day well ...
