I've been doing a little weeding on my little collection at work, and have just disposed of some old brochures on animal husbandry.
There are time when one is amazed at the things that are done to maintain the health and wellbeing of creatures being raised for slaughter for our tables, but I have to admit that
" ...Alternatively, sudden death may be the only history."
as an indicator that your livestock (in this case birds) might have some dire condition strikes me as very sad, yet quite schardenfreude at the same time.
Mind you with a list of other symptoms, such as 'a swollen head, especially around the beak; a discharge from the eye; sneezing; breathing difficulties; tail-bobbing; green diarrhoea and a depressed appearance' I would probably think that I was suffering from a dose of the annual 'dreaded lurgy' ... Given the way I felt the last time I had a full blown bout with that state of unwellness, there were points when I felt like wishing that that 'sudden death' would strike *wry grin*
If spotted early enough and treated quickly, this condition is survivable. But I can't help thinking that tail-bobbing is a terrible way to feel when one is sick!
