Back to Iraq 3.0: A glimpse of the Baghdad art scene
Spotted while trawling through the Utne Reader site. If anything shines a glimmer of hope in the current situation, it is that we are starting to hear about this sort of thing. But it is few and far between, I suppose because violence and destruction is so much more 'sexier' and faster than the long slow gestation of building a new world - always a harder task and not easy for our apparently overstimulated news media addicted to the fast 'sound-bite' that can be seen and presumed to be everything.
I wonder what is happening to the Librarian who tried to save her collection last year ... must go search soon.
